In the music salon of the former manor house and current museum of Ferlach Castle, the Viennese pianist Anika Vavić, originally from Belgrade, plays a recital with works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven and the Chinese-Austrian composer Shih, who has already dedicated an entire piano concerto to her.

Anika Vavić is passionate about discovering breaks and ambiguities in the scores, which she illuminates on the piano. Her interpretations are powerful yet sensitive, clever and illuminating, always striving to follow the credo of her mentor – the cellist Mstislav Rostropovich: Music is medicine and we musicians are physicians and priests – I think we are supposed to ‘cure’, move, stimulate our audiences from the trivialities of everyday life.

A cultural-historical introduction to the venue will be given by Dr Wilhelm Deuer. Curated by Barbara Rombach-Kuderna.
