That was the Composer's Lab
At the second Composer's Lab of the Carinthian Summer Festival , in cooperation with the Gustav Mahler Private University for Music, composer Johannes Maria Staud and the Carinthian Summer Festival 's organist and organ curator, Wolfgang Kogert, offered insights into their work. In conversation with Artistic Director Nadja Kayali and Vice Rector of the Gustav Mahler Private University for Music, Jakob Gruchmann , the collaboration between composer and performer, as well as the creative process behind new works, were explored, particularly with regard to new works and world premieres at the Carinthian Summer Festival , which we can already look forward to with great anticipation.
Afterwards, there was an opportunity to literally look over the shoulders of Johannes Maria Staud and Wolfgang Kogert at the organ in Klagenfurt Cathedral. An inspiring afternoon that increased the anticipation for summer.
The following world premieres by Johannes Maria Staud will be presented at the Carinthian Summer Festival 2026: The string quartet Cahier des équilibres mouvants on July 6th at the Domenig Steinhaus and Tulpa/Doppelgänger for solo organ on July 23rd at Klagenfurt Cathedral.
