Goldberg Variations
Asya Fateyeva, Eckart Runge, Andreas Borregaard
Georg Nigl, Alexander Gergelyfi

This question may initially seem surprising, as Schubert's *Die schöne Müllerin* is among the most famous song cycles. And yet, the question arises anew today: how close are we to this work, really? Schubert didn't compose for the concert hall; his songs were intended for private rooms, salons, a smaller circle of listeners. A square piano from Schubert's time shifts our perspective. In its restraint, a different relationship emerges between voice and instrument. When Georg Nigl and Alexander Gergelyfi perform *Die schöne Müllerin*, they open up a new avenue to Schubert.
