One of the most remarkable string quartets of its generation: experience the young cosmopolitan ensemble in the Carinthian Music Salon at Rosegg Castle.
Antonia Rankersberger, violin
Xiang Lyu, viola
Ivan Valentin Hollup Roald, violoncello
Bela Bartok: Streichquartett Nr. 6
Julia Lacherstorfer: Un:fold (2021)
Founded in Shanghai, the quartet has been at home in Vienna for several years, where they studied with Johannes Meissl at the University of Music and Performing Arts. The young musicians have been collecting more experience since 2020 in Günter Pichler’s class at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid. Awarded prizes in many renowned competitions, they will be among the ECHO Rising Stars of the European Concert Halls in the 2021/22 season. In the Music Salon at Rosegg Castle, they will dedicate themselves to the founder of the royal class of chamber music, Joseph Haydn, as well as to the transfigured, melancholy String Quartet No. 6 by Béla Bartók. He wrote it in 1939 immediately before his emigration to America as his last string quartet in the ‘old Europe’. Un:fold, a new work by the Austrian composer Julia Lacherstorfer, was written in 2021 as a commission for the Simply Quartet.
A cultural-historical introduction to the venue will be given by Dr. Wilhelm Deuer. Curated by Barbara Rombach-Kuderna.
