Listening around

A new “festival within a festival” – that’s listening around ✨

For one week, the Eliot Quartet will perform all 15 string quartets by Dmitri Shostakovich. Around this time, a variety of events will take place in and around Ossiach Abbey, featuring artists from a wide range of styles and genres, all inspired by different aspects of the quartets and Shostakovich's biography.

The first day began with an Ö1 Klassik-Treffpunkt (Ö1 Classical Music Meeting Point), live from the Alban Berg Concert Hall in Ossiach. Ulla Pilz was in conversation with Nadja Kayali, Anna Anderluh, the Eliot Quartet, Bertl Mütter, Paul Sonderegger and Bea Robein.

After an introduction to the day, there was an opportunity to meet artists personally as part of Privatissima ✨
Paul Sonderegger read from Julian Barnes, and Wolfgang Kogert played organ music by Johann Sebastian Bach in the magnificent atmosphere of Ossiach Abbey Church. To conclude the day, the Eliot Quartet performed Shostakovich's String Quartets Nos. 2, 11, and 9 – receiving a standing ovation! ✨

The listening session will continue until August 2nd.

We thank Der Standard for their support.
